What do you bring??
It is not necessary to bring any “talent”,
but it will be most helpful to
bring lots of “playfulness”
and “a willingness to take risks”!
Below is a suggested list of materials that you will want to collect over time, if you are a beginner. If you have your own supplies, bring them along. If you don't have brushes, paints, or canvases, there will be a $15 charge to supply all you need for the day.
Acrylic Workshop-- Suggested Materials List
Canvases: You may be able to start 2 paintings, so you could bring 2 stretched canvases that are at least 12 X 12. I prefer the deeper gallery ones, but the half inch ones will do. (You don’t want ones with staples on the sides. They would have to be framed.) I have some canvases available too, but just the half inch ones.
Paint: Any kind is fine. There are so many colours to choose from, that whatever you bring is probably fine. These are the ones I seem to use. If you can’t find the same colour, ask for help to get one that is similar. I keep a supply ready of all of these if needed.
These are the colours I use the most:
Titanium White
Black
Burnt Sienna
Ultramarine Blue
Pthalo blue
Sap green

Cadmium Red Medium

Here are some others you might like to add:
Burnt Umber

Alizarin Crimson
Hooker’s Green
Cobalt Blue
Cerulean Blue
Other yellows
Brushes: (Flat ones, meant for acrylic) (I have these if you don't.)
Brushes: (Flat ones, meant for acrylic) (I have these if you don't.)
One large one 1 to 1.5 inches wide, to apply the first coat of colour
One large, size 10 or 12 (at least ½ inch wide)
A medium, size 6 or 8
A couple of smaller ones
Palette: There are lots of possibilities: Paper plates (I have lots), tear-off disposable pads, an old dinner plate, a butcher plate, etc.
Easel: If you like to paint on a table easel, bring it along. Or you may prefer to work on a flat table, standing up.
Miscellaneous Supplies: (I have all of these to share.)
Rags
Paper towels
Water container
Small water spritzer bottle
Sketch paper or book
Soft pencils
White chalk for sketching on a dark canvas.
(I don’t use mediums, but if you do, bring them along. We can always learn from each other!)
